There are simply no words that could truly express the feeling that you get when you finally see the baby that you have grown to love from inside the womb staring up at you. Overwhelmed, is a word I am sure many new mothers would say expresses all of their emotions into one. Becoming a parent is one of the most frightening, terrifying, paralyzing and yet most astounding, breath-taking, remarkable experiences any woman could be a part of. It is the hope of every parent that his or her child will grow to be healthy, strong, and flourish throughout their life time. Unfortunately this is not always the case, according to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) ââ¬Å"About 1 in 6 children in the United States had a developmental disability in 2006-2008, ranging from mild disabilities such as speech and language impairments to serious developmental disabilities, such as intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, and autism.â⬠Their have been a significant increases in developmental disorders such as autism, ADHD and overall developmental delays in the last century resulting in a roughly 17.1% increase. The findings of a child being diagnosed with a development disorder is one of the most strenuous, and troubling things parent(s) can hear. Before the 1900ââ¬â¢s there was no way of knowing a child would be born with a genetic disorder until that children was born.
